Although Ohioans are in contention about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), frequently referred to as ObamaCare, Ohio health insurance appears to particularly becoming a vital necessity. In comparison with other U.S. states, Ohio ranks the 13th for cancer mortality. (The Ohio Cancer Incident Surveillance System attributes the heightened chronic sickness and mortality rate to a deficit of benefits covered by Ohio health insurance companies).

Even more disturbing county-by county, different chronic ailments are more pervasive than others. For instance, a report published by the Ohio Citizen says that Marion County accounts for the highest rate of pancreatic cancer cases, twice as many as the state’s average. (The aforementioned information suggests why the cost of Ohio health insurance varies from county to county).

Another disturbing fact compiled by the Ohio Cancer Incident Surveillance System indicates that Ohio residents have a moderately higher rate of cancer diagnosis compared to the nation’s average. Most notable, the incidence of lung cancer among men was 96.7 per 100,000, whereas the national average was 77 per 100,000.

Preventative health services such as cancer diagnostics, cholesterol testing and other medical screenings detect the early warning signs of chronic ailments., a legislation requiring Ohio health insurance companies to include preventative health services in all health plans went into effect in September 2010.

Despite the fact that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports the average life expectancy extending to be 77.9 or 78 years, Ohio demographics demonstrate some another shattering trends: Heart disease is a leading cause of death, 31 percent of deaths in Ohio were attributable to heart disease and stroke combined.

Consumer rights encompass Ohio health insurance companies as well as Ohio life insurance agencies...

If you’re purchasing a health plan or a life insurance policy, know your rights. The state of Ohio maintains legislation to protect residents from consumer fraud, scams and unethical business transactions. These laws encompass Ohio health insurance companies as well as Ohio life insurance agencies. Whether you’re buying a new health plan of life policy, it’s important to know your consumer rights.

Exacting representation of the policy. If you’re purchasing a health plan, Ohio health insurance agents have to disclose both the positive and negative attributes of any policy. For example, an agent must describe the terms of the policy. From the premiums to the deductibles and other added costs, Ohio’s Consumer Sales Act mandates a succinct overview of the plan. Moreover, the legislation also requires that representativie articulate any limitation or exclusions, (This law applies to purchasing an Ohio life insurance policy).

Did you know? If you obtain an Ohio life insurance quote, you are not obligated to purchase a policy.

Affordability. The United States housing market, mortgage crisis is a perfect example of the importance of selling Americans products and services that are affordable and beneficial. It is essential for Ohio health insurance agents to not only explain the cost of a policy but make sure that Ohioans can actually afford a plan that offers the necessary medical services the prospective policyholder

Mental competence. Illicit agents or con artists often prey on individuals, who do not have the mental capacity to make an educated or sound decision.

Despite the concerns of inflating Ohio health insurance premiums, industry insiders emphasize that consumers can still attain economical medical coverage. The health reform’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) requires that Ohio health insurance companies accommodate consumers with a slew of consumer-friendly guidelines. President of Ohio Life and Health.com, Michael Novelli advises,

“If you’re looking for a health insurance plan, several new legislations offset these costs and provisions:

Preventative health care has its benefits. Cancer screening, mammograms and cholesterol tests are three benefits that consumers no longer have to share the cost in co-payments, coinsurance and deductibles with Ohio health insurance companies. These inclusive benefits help Americans monitor their health, motivating new healthy lifestyle habits.

Children with preexisting medical conditions cannot be denied medical coverage. “In the past, we were unable to find suitable Ohio health insurance for families with diabetic children under the age of 19. Now that the legislation prohibits this type of medical discrimination, Ohioans have the ability to secure medical care for their children to stay healthy,” shares Mr. Novelli.

OHIO HEALTH INSURANCE FACT: To keep policies affordable, low premiums with high deductible health plans are the best choice for middle-income families, grappling with other household expenses.

Rescinding policies is no longer acceptable. Ohio health insurance companies used to rescind coverage after policyholders became ill, leaving subscribers with hospital claims. The health reform bill stipulates that Ohio health insurance companies can rescind coverage if the policyholders committed fraud or if there was a misrepresentation of their medical history, during the application process. Moreover, policyholders have 30-days to appeal rescissions.

Although these newly instituted laws offer consumers the choices they need to find medical coverage, Ohioans still need to be prudent about the policies they choose. This is why it’s more essential then ever to compare Ohio health insurance quotes.

ven though the recent reports that major Ohio health insurance agencies companies will terminate child only health plans to circumvent coverage for children suffering from a preexisting ailm

Even though the recent reports that major Ohio health insurance agencies companies will terminate child only health plans to circumvent coverage for children suffering from a preexisting ailments, not all news on the Ohio health insurance sector is completely inopportune.

Effective tomorrow children aged one to 18 years old in Ohio, Florida and California will lose medical coverage from child only policies. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and other Ohio health insurance companies are terminating child only policies. These Ohio health insurance agencies counter that the new legislation enables parents to enroll their children subsequent to an illness, placing major Ohio health agencies at risk of losing competitiveness and financing exorbitant medical bills.

Conversely, parents have the authority to add children to family health plans. President of Ohio Life and Health, Michael Novelli asserts:

When consumers compare Ohio health insurance quotes, quite often family health plans are less expensive than individual policies.

Additionally, the bulleted list of Ohio health insurance providers are also required to extend coverage for dependents until the age of 26:

Aetna

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield

UnitedHealth Care

Despite health care advocates placing the blame on Ohio health insurance companies for shirking the moral obligation to offer children only health plans, insurance representatives concur that parents have other resources for assuring that children have access to medical coverage. White House officials advise concerned parties to consider high risk pools offered by the state of Ohio’s Insurance Department.

But, most insurance agents who are familiar with these government sponsored health plans suggest that enrollment for these programs are no longer available.

It’s completely unnecessary for parents to fret over the termination of child only policies. Parents have two basic options: 1) Add dependents to their health plans 2) Compare Ohio health insurance quotes from several different agencies to find a cost effective policy.

Anthem, an Ohio health insurance company was found to be overcharging consumers with health plan rates inconsistent with the terms filed with the Ohio Department of Insurance.

Earlier in the year, when policyholders realized that they were paying higher premiums and co-insurance rates offered via Anthem, some consumers contacted the Ohio Department of Insurance, requesting an investigation. According to Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson, more than 45,000 consumers were paying significantly higher premiums than filed with the state of Ohio.

As a result, the Ohio health insurance company Anthem will issue refunds or credit valuing $6 million. To date, Anthem is cooperating with the parties involved in the situation.

By law, Ohio health insurance companies have to file their rates with the Ohio Department of Insurance. Although the Ohio Department of Insurance reviews Ohio health insurance policies to make sure that consumers are receiving equitable medical coverage for the price, the state does not always verify that every Ohio health insurance company extends policies as promised. The aforementioned details are a classic case of what happens when Ohio health insurance company ovreceharges.
How to Avoid Excessive Premiums from Ohio Health Insurance Companies:

President of Ohio Life and Health, Michael Novelli recommends that consumers execute the following due diligence:

Consumers in need individual Ohio health insurance policy, attain the lowest premium by obtaining a minimum of two quotes.

Simplify the quest for affordable Ohio health insurance quotes by working with an unbiased insurance agent, representing a roster of major Ohio health insurance providers. Avoid any agent, offering unknown or “new” health plans. All too often imposters sell fake policies, leaving the consumer with expensive hospital bills in the end.

Prior to subscribing to a new policy, review all the exclusions and fine print. Be sure to verify that the premiums are concurrent with the new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) by contacting the Ohio Department of Insurance at 800-686-1526.

Before providing any agent with personal information to obtain an Ohio health insurance quote, verify that the agent’s license is current.

As the Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act (PPACA) implements new laws, certain definitions related to Ohio health insurance are changing. In this installment of Ohio Life and Health, we’re reviewing medical insurance terms, which have an ambiguous connotation and how it influences who need a new Ohio health insurance policy:

Disease management with the PPACA, disease management is key to reducing health care costs and enhancing the life quality of individuals living with a terminal medical condition. Patients, medical providers and Ohio health insurance companies will coordinate efforts to minimize in-patient care, by focusing on health on education, outpatient care and at home care.

Grandfathered plan Not all Ohio health insurance plans have to incorporate the stipulations, as defined in the Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act. As a result, any enrollments made prior to March 23, 2010 are exempt from the requirements of PPACA, and thus named, ‘grandfathered plans’. Also, employees as well as new family members may be added to all grandfathered plans. (In other words, any Ohio medical insurance policies that were in existence prior to President Obama signing the bill will stay in effect)

Guaranteed issue a component of the PPACA, requiring insurance company sell coverage to any consumer. Although the PPACA has a clause requiring a “guaranteed issue,” Ohio health insurance companies have until 2014 to offer such plans.

Essential Benefits are another proposed change that becomes effective in 2014. Essential Ohio health insurance plans will have to provide a basic package of “essential benefits.” These include

Hospitalization

Outpatient services,

Maternity care

Prescription drugs

Emergency care and

Preventive services

The provision also imposes a limit on the amount of cost-sharing that patients have to remit for these services.

In the interim, for those in quest of short term health plan, should keep the aforementioned guidelines in mind. Obtain Ohio health insurance quotes today.

How to Shop for an Ohio health insurance quote...this article reviews a list of misconceptions, questions and answers pertaining to obtaining an affordable Ohio health insurance quote

When consumers shop for an Ohio health insurance quote, many are unaware that the cost and benefits depend on several factors. This article reviews a list of misconceptions, questions and answers pertaining to obtaining an affordable Ohio health insurance quote.

1) If I have psoriasis, will I have a problem being approved for an Ohio health insurance quote?

In the past, Ohio health insurance companies had the authorization to reject consumers who suffered from chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease. President Barack Obama passed the National health reform to prevent Ohio health insurance companies from discriminating and rejecting Americans, who need health care. Since, psoriasis is not considered a debilitating disease.

2) Since being approved for an affordable health plan is such a challenging feat, I should subscribe to the first Ohio health plan that I obtain approval?

On the contrary, shopping for a health plan is tantamount to shopping for any other major purchase (car, home, mortgage). A certain level of cost comparing and due diligence is necessary to obtain an Ohio health insurance quote that is conducive with both your medical and financial specifications.

3) As for obtaining an affordable Ohio health insurance quote, I have heard that consumers should avoid health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and preferred provider organizations (PPOs) because these policies fall short of adequate medical benefits. Is there any truth to this?

While HMOs and PPOs are designed to contain costs for the insurance company and policyholders, these policies offer the most care for less. With these health plans, subscribers select a physician, who is affiliated with a specific network of medical care providers. Ohio health insurance programs are designed to contain costs, enabling the members to take a proactive approach to their medical care.

Compared to other Ohio health insurance plans, HMOs and PPOs offer economical premiums, whereby the insured pays a co-payment for physician visits. For treatments requiring care from a specialist or surgical care, pre-authorization is required.

4) Where can consumers shop and compare different Ohio health insurance companies and plans?

Rather than call each health insurance provider for a quote, contact an unbiased agent, who represents several different Ohio health insurance companies. For instance, Ohio Life and Health specializes in providing several unbiased Ohio health insurance quotes from leading Ohio health insurance companies. For hassle-free and unbiased advice, please dial 1-866-522-5953.
